First, I would like to thank Debbie and Stephanie for the fine job they have done the past nine years guiding the Chamber. Those efforts have not gone unnoticed by me and I appreciate their hard work and devotion towards making our area a great place to live and work.

I sought this position as Executive Director mainly because of two reasons – Importance and Opportunity. It is extremely important to maintain and advance our community throughout its commercial, industry, retail, agricultural, educational and civic progress through leadership and service.

The opportunities we have are only limited through our ability to realize and develop plans that allow us to be prosperous, growing and relevant as a Chamber and a community.

I am excited and honored to be chosen to serve as the Chamber Executive Director and pledge to be committed every day to moving our community forward through leadership, devotion and hard work.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol alcohol related fatalities among teens are more common during the prom/graduation season; it is the goal of these parent based organizations to provide students the opportunity to chooses a positive and safe environment in which to continue their prom & graduation festivities.
We can not express to you enough the importance of the “After Prom” & “Project Graduation” events, if these event were to spare the life of one student; it would be worth ever dime spent.

On April 13th AUSA, Committee of Fifty, Friends of the Fort, Lake Support the Fort and Phelps for the Fort will be offering a tour of Ft. Leonard Wood beginning at 8:45 am and ending at 2:30 pm.

We are excited to be able to offer the community this opportunity to tour Ft. Leonard Wood and witness the transformation that have impacted our communities in so many postive ways over the years.

The tour will be leaving from the Waynesvile-St. Robert Chamber Office, located in the lower level of the Visitor’s Center at 137 St. Robert Blvd, Ste. B in St. Robert, as always please remember to park in the back of the building.

Lunch will be provided by AUSA during the tour.

COPE provides a temporary residence for abused women and their children, helps them adjust to their new life, and assists them in getting back on their feet. COPE also provides legal assistance to abused women and victims of sexual assault and conducts classes in local county school districts on domestic abuse and sexual assault.

The Friends of the Fort Committee is proud to announce that they will be collecting items to send to our military men and women who will be overseas for Christmas this year.

Items can be collected through Friday, November 18, 2011 and donations are being accepted at Hardee’s of Lebanon, Hairy’s Salon, Mid-Missouri Credit Union, US Bank and the Chamber of Commerce office.

The items will be shipped during the Thanksgiving holiday week in hopes that the packages will be received before Christmas.

If you have a family member or friend serving overseas, please call the Chamber and give us their name and address and we will see that they receive a package for the holidays.

2011 Christmas Pageant Applications Available
Planning is underway for the 2011 Miss & Mister Merrie Christmas Pageant. again this year, pageants are being held for all Kindergarten through 1st grade girls and boys, and 12th grade girls. All students in Laclede County are eligible to enter.

The winners and runner-up in each category will receive prizes donated by area businesses and every contestant will receive a participation prize. The winner of the Miss Merrie Christmas pageant will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
